President Bassirou Diomaye Faye on a Goodwill and Cooperation Visit to Mali

On 28 July 2026, H.E. Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Republic of Senegal, was received at the Koulouba Palace by H.E. General Assimi Goïta, President of the Transition and Head of State of the Republic of Mali, during a visit of friendship and cooperation reflecting the deep historical, geographical, and fraternal ties between the two brotherly nations.
At the outset of the meeting, President Faye conveyed Senegal’s sincere condolences to President Goïta, the Government, and the people of Mali following the recent terrorist attacks that claimed the lives of several Malian soldiers, paying tribute to their sacrifice in the service of peace and security.
The two Heads of State also discussed peace and security challenges in the sub-region, reaffirming the importance of closer cooperation and stronger regional solidarity to combat terrorism and other cross-border threats. At the conclusion of the meeting, President Faye reaffirmed Senegal’s unwavering commitment to stand alongside the Republic of Mali, emphasizing that Mali can always count on Senegal’s steadfast support.
